My Time At Hospitality House

I was fortunate enough to be an intern at Hospitality House this summer. I graduated from App State with a degree in criminal justice and worked to complete my degree through my internship this summer. When I came to college four years ago, I knew I wanted to major in criminal justice to pursue a career in law enforcement. However, plans have changed, and I got to spend time working at the greatest non-profit I have ever had the chance to work with. While at Hospitality House, I discovered my love for working with the wonderful clients there. My first few days allowed me to work on putting up a storage shed with my new friend Richard and we became good working buddies very fast! After my first week, I quickly realized that the clients were some of the most wonderful people I had ever met. In my time as an intern, the most impactful part of the job was being able to interact with clients and create actual friends rather than viewing clients as just another part of the job.

This summer, I was all over the place at HospHouse, from working at the front desk to the food pantry. I loved each chance I had to learn something new and make great friendships. I took great pride in working with Randy in the kitchen and being able to learn from his plethora of knowledge, creating delicious meals for our great clients. I got to spend my internship applying knowledge from App State classes that I was eager to use. There was never a dull moment at Hospitality House. Every day was different and brought new exciting moments! I am forever grateful for my experiences at HospHouse!
