Living the Hosp House Dream

skylarenc

Having the privilege of interning at the Hospitality House this semester has taught me many things. Since working full time, it has helped me get used to the professional work field. I have grown as a person since being here as well as learned more than I could have imagined.

My favorite part of this internship was our Savor the Summer event. This takes place on the fourth Thursday of every month between June and September. The Hospitality House organizes multiple food trucks to come out and feed not just those who work or live at the Hospitality House, but anyone from the community. All of the food is paid for by the Hospitality House and is free to anyone who comes. This is a great way for the community to come together and see what all goes on here at the shelter. I truly enjoyed seeing all of the clients having a great time while mingling and getting to know other people. We had games, fresh produce, and other resource booths out there so that we could further provide for the community and the clients.

Being at the Hospitality House has shown me what a great community we have and it has been a true pleasure to be able to be a part of it. I plan to continue to grow my knowledge about the Hosp House and what makes it such a special place that everyone learns to love.
