Givers of Hope Hike

Ayla's Hike to End Homelessness

Ayla Crawley, age 9, has an innate desire to both make the world a better place and have a bit of an adventure and a lot of fun while doing it.

This July, she will be backpacking 102 miles on the Appalachian Trail while simultaneously raising money for a cause she feels passionate about.

Hospitality House of Northwest NC is an agency she has grown up supporting. Her mother Jenna began working as the Mental Health Therapist when she was two year old and from an early age she both understood and embraced the overall mission.

This will be Ayla's second long distance hike -- she completed the 76.2 mile Foothills Trail last year during a 10 day backpacking trip with her parents.

As the summer approached, she announced to her family that she had a new goal and a new plan -- she wanted to do a 100 mile hike and this time, wanted to raise money for a non-profit while she did it.

Since that time, she has begun training physically to prepare, created an itinerary with the help of her dad, and is preparing meals for the two week trip.

Ayla's Fundraising Goal = $3,000 = $29 per mile

WILL YOU SPONSOR A MILE?

MORE ABOUT AYLA:

As a fourth grader at Valle Crucis School, she was a founding member and is the current president of the Charity Club. Through that endeavor, she has learned a tremendous amount about leadership, raising money, and how to support the community.

Recently, she created the "Givers of Hope" web page where you can keep up with her efforts to "help the planet, people in need, make rainbows in somebody's storm, and make the world a better place."

Ayla also enjoys climbing, reading, writing stories, and being outdoors. Prior to COVID, she was active in both dance and gymnastics and plans to begin them again in the fall.
